The goal of this project, was to create a seat that fits within 12x12x12in. L + W + H could not be greater than 36in. I learned through this project, the importance of materiality, and accepting materials with good and bad attributes.

Two versions of the seat were made, one of acrylic and cork, and one of glass and cork.

Models defined scale, and the best order of assembly.

UV light glue adhered glass together. A jig was used for slots to be cut into the turned cork on the table saw.

The original design included a four degree angle on the seat. I was committed to using glass as the material but was not able to achieve this angle with the material. The glass version (L) is all right angles, and the acrylic version (R) has a slight angle. I learned the angle, though small, made a difference, but the materiality of the glass was more impactful.
